The Ron Tank:
A dependable touring vehicle
AMAZING SHOW THIS SATURDAY AT THE MALL OF GEORGIA
The Mall of Georgia will get another taste of The Ron Jonsons this Saturday (Sept.
5th) at 6:15 pm. We were running through the show yesterday at practice and it’s
sounding beautiful! Because rock is a beautiful thing. We especially sounded
great playing a new surprise cover song that you’ll hear if you come to the gig!
Hee hee hee, oh it’s a good one. ‘Epic’ is only one of many words to describe it. So
come out to the mall amphitheater and bring a friend. You won’t regret it.
As for the Ron Merch, the T-shirts are done and on their way to our offices right
now! And by offices, I mean my house because we don’t actually have a
headquarters…yet. Then again, we don’t have our Ron Tank yet either. But I
digress. The point is, as soon as we calculate the costs we’ll be able to name a
price for the shirts, and once we get the shirts and name a price for them, they
will be up for sale! And be ready ‘cause they’re gonna go really quick. Just keep
an eye on the blog and our websites in the future for details on how to get one.
Ron Tank sold separately. That’s it for this week! We’ll see you guys out there on
the dance floor!

The Ron T-Shirts!
Now available at a gig near you!
The Ron Jonsons close out the Mall of Georgia’s Summer Concert Series
Well, the mall can now lay its summer concert series to rest. The Ron Jonsons
worry; we’ll try our darndest to make sure you’ll see us again next year! That was
the last public gig we’ll have for a few weeks. We’re going to use this time to do
some upkeep and start planning out that album we need to make. It’s time to start
putting The Ron Jonsons on the shelves, folks. So what do you think, fans? What’
s the next step for The RoJos? Where would you like to see us go? What would
you like to see us do? We’ve already got our eyes on Atlanta and recording a
demo, but is there anything we’ve overlooked? Tell us your thoughts via e-mail
(theronjonsons@yahoo.com) , Facebook, MySpace, or The Ron Forum (www.
theronjonsons.com/blog). On the plus side, we do already have…
T-shirts!!! The Ron Jonsons now have T-shirts and T-shirt ordering capabilities.
They come in TWO COLORS (omg!) and are $10 per shirt. They are available in
black and red. We sold half of our first order at the mall gig and we only have a
few sizes left right now…but we can always order more!! I know what you’re
thinking, “But Josh, how can I get my hands on one of these amazingly incredibly
awesome one-of-a-kind sharp-looking chick magnets (or dude magnets if you’re
a girl)?” Well I’ll tell you!!! The easiest way is to just come to one of our gigs in the
future and buy one from us after the show! Or, if we happen to have a sales table
one night, you can even get one during the show. The only other way right now is
to just get in touch with us personally via e-mail (theronjonsons@yahoo.com) and
try to arrange a personal meeting. Perhaps some day soon, we’ll be able to set up
a mail order system, but I’m afraid we don’t have one yet. Also, perhaps some day
we’ll have The Ron Jonsons Store franchised out across the world…but again, we
don’t have one yet. But a man’s entitled to his dreams, right?
Well, that’s all.

The Beatles' Rooftop Concert
How much did they get paid here?
Nothing.
What did they change about music?
Everything.
Let’s talk shop.
Disclaimer: I’m about to get philosophical.
Alright, now that that’s out of the way, hello Ron Nation! Well fans, it’s finally
begun. The Ron Jonsons are officially mapping out our first album. I’ll give you a
hint as to how it will sound. Amazing. Draw your own conclusions from there! I
can’t say for sure how long it will be until the album will be finished, but I would
definitely say that by the end of the year, we’ll be closing in on a finished product.
Expect some favorites as well as some new surprises.
Now for the philosophy. At practice the other day, we stumbled upon a very
serious set of questions about music. What is music today? Where is music
going? Did we lose something from the music of yesterday? In decades past, we
had The Beatles. We had Jimi Hendrix. We had Pink Floyd. Who in today’s music
will still be remembered decades from now? Music was a form of expression, a
form of much needed controversy. Heck, it created its own counter-culture. What
about today? Does music still speak louder than designer clothes and feathered
hair on the stage? I’m not going to answer these questions for you, but rather, we
would like to hear your take on these questions. Facebook, Myspace, or e-mail us
your opinions. How do you feel about modern music? Really think about it. Turn it
over in your minds. Let us hear your feedback!
That’ll do it for this week. Our next gig is Wednesday, Sept. 30th at Tasty World in
Athens. We’ll see you there.
Keep screaming for us and we’ll keep rockin’ hard for you!

This wallpaper and more
available on our Free Downloads page!!
Webpage updates / Tasty World gig a week from today!
Hello once again to the great fans of The Ron Jonsons!
I’ve been tinkering with the webpage these last couple of weeks and there are a
couple of really cool updates to check out. First of all, our press kit is now
available on the web! This doesn’t mean much to our fans, but to booking agents,
record execs, promoters, and other people with a foot in the music industry, this
is a way for them to look at our cut and dried music and references. The other
update, however, is geared directly towards our fans…you guys! The second
thing I’ve added to the RJ webpage is a free downloads page! Right now, the only
thing available is desktop wallpaper, but more things will follow!
To check out these downloadable wallpapers, go to www.theronjonsons.

Also, we’ve got a gig at Tasty World again next Wednesday. It’ll be on the 30th. We’
ve been writing a new song for our upcoming album, and we’re gonna try to play it
at the gig. Come on out and have a listen! Then you can tell us what you think! We’
d also like to hear your opinion on which songs you would like to hear on the new
album! We will also be selling our T-shirts at this gig, so come on out and get one!
See ya there!
Keep on rockin’! We will be!

The power of sound...
This week's blog was written by Michael "The Ron Drummer" Butts. Take it away:
Let me ask you, Fan Jonsons, what is music?
How do you define it? Scientifically speaking, music is nothing but sound, and
sound is nothing but compression waves traveling through the air. Our brains
interpret these vibrations as pleasing. We all might not be musicians or know the
“unwritten rules” of composition (I sure don’t!), but I think we can all recognize
when something is out of tune or just doesn’t “sound right”. That’s cause our
brain recognizes what sounds we like or are pleasing to us.
But is that ALL music is? Just a bunch of oxygen molecules rebounding off each
other that the electrical signals in our brain register as “good”? What musician
would actually stop there when describing music?! We all know music is
powerful, but what IS it to you? Is it an escape? Distraction? Expression?
Reminder? Ultimately, these are questions we all have to answer ourselves.
Music to me might not be music to you. After all, there are people out there who
really stinkin’ DIG free jazz and avant garde music.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEdZ68nKOCA
I am NOT critizising these musicians or their fans. They have every right to enjoy
it, create it and express themselves fully within it. Throw genres and titles away!
The point I’m trying to make is every musician, every true fan of music has to
figure out what music means to them as a whole. Why do you like your favorite
artist? What is it about your favorite song that makes it your favorite? Do you
enjoy songs at face-value or do you want more? Should music invoke
controversy? Normally, I write these blogs to make a point, but that would be too
easy this time. YOU must make your OWN point- answer these questions
yourself. We here in The Ron Jonsons have pondered these questions and are
ready with answers if asked, but this time we want to hear from YOU- tell us,
please, what does music mean to you?
