Across The Room
Info:
This tongue-in-cheek song is a bit of a cross-reference to love throughout the
generations. The beginning of the song is based off of an old 50's riff and the lyrics
depict a scene not unlike the old high school proms of that time. Those times were
seemingly simpler and more innocent. The song quickly turns into a more 80's-esque
rock beat and the lyrics show just how far romance has devolved into a sleeze-fest.
Lyrics:
My eyes were fixed across the room
To the girl out on the floor
Dancing away, her beauty shined throughout
I want more
So I made my way across the room
To ask her for her name
She whispered sweetly in my ear
She said "It's Sara Jane"
(80's riff begins)
I really met her on a Saturday night
While we were down drinking by the bar
She said my name shouldn't matter to you
Just come and get inside my car
Well I was tryin' hard to keep my cool
But my mind was thinkin' otherwise
Within two blocks of the hotel room
We had stars runnin' through our eyes
We had stars runnin' through our eyes
Ooh baby, We've all been singin' 'bout how we've been workin' hard
And that perfect love we all seek may not be in the cards
I didn't meet her at a high school dance
And we haven't been friends for life
But me and my baby in the hotel room
Are finding love above cloud nine
Well that's the way that the story goes
About the lovers drinking by the bar
She was the cutest thing that I ever seen
As we were making love inside my car
Well I was tryin' hard to keep my cool
But my mind was thinkin' otherwise
Within two blocks of the hotel room
We had stars runnin' through our eyes
We had stars runnin' through our eyes
Ooh baby, We've all been singin' 'bout how we've been workin' hard
And that perfect love we all seek may not be in the cards
I didn't meet her at a high school dance
And we haven't been friends for life
But me and my baby in the hotel room
Are finding love above cloud nine
Me and my baby in the hotel room
Are finding love above cloud nine
We're finding love above cloud nine
